Effect of ablation on the nonlinear spike growth for the single-mode ablative Rayleigh–Taylor instability

The effect of ablation on the nonlinear spike growth single-mode ablative Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI) is studied by two-dimensional numerical simulations. It shown that can reduce quasi-constant velocity and significantly suppress reacceleration in phase. also affect ablation-generated vorticity inside bubble, which further affects bubble acceleration. evolution found to be correlated with mixing width (i.e., sum growths) for a given wave number velocity. By considering effects mass vorticity, an analytical model RTI developed this study. width, induced single mode, dominated small-scale RTI, whereas it classical RTI.
